A 64-year-old Victor man is facing charges after State Police say he drained his mother’s bank account after she was admitted to a nursing home.
James Munger is charged with third-degree grand larceny – a felony.
Police say Munger emptied his mother’s account of $19,419.19 in a four month period between June and October 2009. Investigators say during that time, Munger made an $8769.19 withdrawal of the entire savings and wrote 67 checks to “Cash” – cashing almost half of those checks at a local bar.
Police say although Munger had power of attorney to complete banking transactions, it is apparent he was not acting in the best interest of his mother.
Munger was arraigned and released. He is due back in court on February 2.
